What we are looking for
We are always looking for people to work with us on topics of Civic and Responsible AI. In particular, we are interested in:
- Characterizing social and ethical issues of AI and robotics.
- Developing algorithms that help protect against them.
- Producing speculative, provocative, participatory, and co-design of future AI and robotics systems, towards social justice and accountability.
- Producing useful critique of AI, Robotics, and Responsible AI.
- Developing AI systems that strengthen civil society and empower marginalized groups.

Positions
Post-doctoral positions
- Individual postdoc fellowships (Marie Curie, Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society): expressions of interest in June, final application in September.
- For Chinese citizens: KCL-funded 1-year fellowships, for Chinese PhD holders living and working at a scientific institution in the People’s Republic of China. Applications typically in January.
PhD scholarships
There are currently 3 PhD projects, for UK/home students, to be funded by the King’s Prize Doctoral Programme in Safe, Trusted and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (deadline Mar 2):
- Work, Employment and Robots: Investigating Working Conditions in the Supply Chain of Robotics
- AI for AI Oversight? Evaluating and monitoring corporate AI risks using publicly available data
- Leveraging collaborative XAI for racism detection and explanation in political and media discourse
And one fully-funded PhD project, jointly with Ordnance Survey, where exceptional international students will also be considered besides UK/home students (deadline Feb 27):
